Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a solid week of teaching and learning.

Grade Six

Language Arts students are reviewing for their upcoming summative assessment on the Egyptian Dynasties.

In Science, students enjoyed a quick brain break before beginning their review for the upcoming assessment on Thermal Energy.

Grade Seven

In Science, students are learning about the Phases of the Moon.

In Social Studies, students are preparing for their debate by reviewing the key protocols and skills that make an effective debater.

In Math, students are engaging with the UDL (Universal Design for Learning) model—some working collaboratively in groups and others independently, according to their learning needs.

Reminder

Next week, we will hold Parent-Teacher Conferences. Thank you for signing up to attend with your child. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from your child and their teachers, learn more about their learner portrait, and ask the kinds of questions that may not always come up at home.

As the winter season approaches, please be aware that a virus is currently circulating. If your child has a fever or any symptoms of illness, kindly keep them at home. Encourage frequent handwashing. In school, we’re being proactive by keeping the air purifiers on, and ensuring doors and windows remain open for good ventilation.

We are incredibly proud of our ten students traveling to Yale University this week to compete in the World Scholars Cup Global Round. They will be joining over 1,500 students from around the world, showcasing their knowledge, teamwork, and academic excellence.

Our Cross-Country team is also heading to Rome to compete in the ISSA Championships. We wish all our athletes and coaches the very best of luck. Go Eagles Go!

Food For Thought:

“We take other men’s knowledge and opinions upon trust, which is an idle and superficial learning. We must make them our own. We are just like a man who, needing fire, went to a neighbor’s house to fetch it, and finding a very good one there, sat down to warm himself without remembering to carry any back home. What good does it do us to have our belly full of meat if it is not digested, if it is not transformed into us, if it does not nourish and support us?”

—Michel de Montaigne

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
