Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s News and Views. We want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

It was a short week, and we took advantage of it by asking students to identify their peers who upheld the Core Values daily. This is a massive award for the winners because it is not just teachers who recognize them; it is other students as well.

Congratulations to all our students.

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s edition of News and Views.

Students in Language Arts have been diligently working on their “Post-Mortem of a Protagonist.” This engaging project involves deep character analysis, exploring the protagonist’s perspective through their senses (hearing, touch, smell, legs, heart etc.) and examining the practical aspects of their character.

Eighth-grade students have been actively involved in a scientific experiment. They are  collecting data and are now in the process of putting it on graphs, after which they will spend time analyzing it.

Congratulations to Ms. Shalaby and her Cabaret class! Their performance on Tuesday afternoon was a success. Students showcased their writing and speaking skills dramatically and engagingly. This valuable experience allows students to discover their talents and build confidence.

A reminder that starting next semester, our tardy policy will be revised. After accumulating eight tardies, students must serve in-school detention from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Parents will be notified, and alternative transportation arrangements must be made if your child utilizes the early bus.

We encourage you and your child to visit the school library and select books for the upcoming Winter Break. Balancing reading time with screen time is essential for cultivating healthy habits. Please check your email for any overdue book notifications.

We sincerely thank you for your continued support and partnership as we strive to make this semester a rewarding and successful experience for all.

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s edition of News and Views. We’ve had a productive week filled with review sessions and summative assessments, and now we’re just seven days away from the Winter Break!

As we approach the final stretch, please help your child prepare for their summative assessments by:

  • Collecting their phones during study time.
  • Providing a quiet, visible study space.
  • Setting a timer: 45 minutes of focused study followed by a 15-minute break.
  • Checking in periodically to ensure they stay on task.

Congratulations to Mr. McCuaig and Mr. Dzamashvili for organizing two wonderful evenings of music! It was a joy for our community to come together and experience the uplifting performances. The choir, strings, and band students did an incredible job, and their efforts truly shone through. The musical selections added a festive touch, brightening the holiday season for all who attended.

On Wednesday, our sixth-grade students proudly presented their Egyptfest interdisciplinary unit to fifth and seventh graders. Their enthusiasm and sense of pride were evident as they shared their learning journey.

During Math class students have been diligently preparing for their summative assessments.

In Physical Education class students are learning how to safely put on a harness in preparation for the upcoming Project Adventure Unit.

As we near the end of Semester One, we’re excited about the upcoming drama performances. We are inviting you to join us for a Cabaret Performance on December 10th, 2024, at 4:30 p.m.
The show will last about an hour. We look forward to seeing you there!

Starting next semester, there will be changes to our tardy policy. After eight tardies, students will serve an in-school detention from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Parents will be notified, and if your child takes the early bus, alternative transportation arrangements will need to be made.

We encourage you and your child to visit the library and sign out books for the Winter Break. Balancing reading time with phone use is crucial for maintaining healthy habits. Please check your email for overdue book notifications.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this a successful and rewarding end to the semester.

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s News and Views. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of you. I hope you take full advantage of the upcoming three-day weekend to enjoy quality time with family and friends and reflect on the many blessings in your lives.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the sixth-grade parents who attended the EgyptFest Interdisciplinary Showcase. This event culminated twelve weeks of hard work, with students dedicating one hour each week to collaborative, creative, and intensive research. The presentation video showcased the students’ outstanding resilience, communication, and critical thinking skills.

It was truly inspiring to witness the students’ dedication and passion throughout the process, not one student inquired about grades. Guided by a clear rubric, they independently planned and executed their final products demonstrating that deep learning and enjoyment go hand in hand. This state of immersive engagement, often referred to as “flow,” reflects the joy of learning at its finest. We are incredibly proud of the pride and enthusiasm our students displayed during the event.

We are also happy to welcome back our coaches Coach Torky, Coach Deakin, Coach Perez, and Coach White and the 12 boys and 12 girls who represented our school with pride at the Teranga Cup exchange in Senegal. The journey was no small feat, requiring a 24-hour trip both ways, yet our student-athletes demonstrated exceptional perseverance and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to our boys’ teams for winning the volleyball championship and securing second place in basketball. Although the girls’ teams did not achieve top results, they played with remarkable heart and determination. As one parent beautifully expressed, “They all returned safely, their smiles as bright and their energy as infectious as ever.” We are immensely proud of their efforts and resilience.

A special thank you to the parents who joined us for the Coffee Morning on Wednesday. These gatherings provide valuable opportunities to reflect on our first semester and discuss preparations for the upcoming term.

Looking ahead, we want to remind you that, to better support our eighth-grade students, we will be implementing letter grades and percentages for their summative assessments during the second semester. The workload will be more demanding as our dedicated teachers ensure that students are fully prepared for the academic challenges of the next grade level.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we create an environment where learning flourishes, talents are nurtured, and every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Also, on December 3rd and 4th, we will have our Winter Music Concert in the theater. We would love to have you support our musicians.

Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to another beautiful week ahead!

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Thank you for reading this week’s News and Views. It was a busy week with parent-teacher conferences and the departure of the 24 boys and girls who traveled to Senegal for the Teranga Cup.

We want to thank the parents who attended the conferences on Monday and Wednesday. We hope the experience provided some talking points for you to have a meaningful conversation with your child about their progress as learners. We are nearing the end of the semester, and students have an opportunity to finish the semester with a strong push. Please remind your child not to take it easy now. There are three weeks remaining, and we want them to take advantage of it.

The grade-six interdisciplinary unit “Egyptfest” will take place next Tuesday, November 26th. All grade-six parents have been invited, and we expect you to RSVP so the teachers can plan accordingly. This is the first year we are running the event, and it is a great learning opportunity for our students to showcase their knowledge, communication skills and creativity.

This is a reminder that next week we will have a Parent Coffee Morning on Wednesday, beginning at 8:15.

Also on Dec 3,4, & 5 we will have our Winter Music Concert in the theater. More information will be shared with you regarding the program.

The Annual General Services Staff (GSS) Appreciation Lunch
The GSS Appreciation Lunch has been a CAC tradition since 2013 where the entire CAC community comes together to show appreciation for our hard-working GSS teams.
These teams are the: security guards, janitors, gardeners, bus monitors, drivers, car washers, electricians, painters & carpenters.
A total of 180 members.
Without their hard work and dedication, CAC wouldn’t be the same!
On that day, we organize the packing of delivered meals relying on the generous contributions of the CAC community.

Our annual GSS Appreciation Lunch is a chance to thank these essential team members and their families. We need your help to make it special.
A well-priced meal costs around 1,200 EGP, but contributions of any amount and in any currency are greatly appreciated.
Last year, your generosity was overwhelming, and with rising prices, we hope to make an even bigger impact this year.
You can contribute in cash or use Instapay, Venmo, or Zelle.

For specific details, please refer to the flyer.

Thank you for your kindness and support in recognizing those who do so much for our community!

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Thank you for reading this week’s News and Views. It has been a fantastic week of teaching, learning, and having fun.

We kicked off with the opening night of “Mary Poppins”, and it was exhilarating! The dedication of our actors and their teachers over the past ten weeks truly shone on stage. If you missed it, don’t worry! There’s still time to catch the show tonight and the Friday matinée. We’d love to see you there, celebrating our students’ hard work and talent.

Our grade six students are putting the final touches on their multidisciplinary EgyptFest project, promising a spectacular presentation. Keep an eye out for further information that will be shared with grade six families. EgyptFest will be held on November 26th, and we hope to see you there supporting our young historians.

Parent-teacher conferences are coming up on November 18th and 20th, and we look forward to welcoming you. Conferences on the 18th are from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m., and on the 20th, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. A reminder to bring your child along. Their presence in the conference is an important part of the process.

Next week, 12 girls and 12 boys, along with four coaches, will head to Senegal for the Teranga Cup. This is our second year in this competition, and after hosting it last year, we saw firsthand how it fosters cultural exchange and unity. We wish our teams a safe and memorable experience!

And finally, a huge congratulations to all our athletes who represented CAC at the ISSA championships last weekend! Three out of our five teams returned with gold medals. We are incredibly proud of all the athletes and coaches for their dedication to their sports and for representing us so well. Go Eagles, Go!

Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to another wonderful week ahead!

A total of 180 members.
Without their hard work and dedication, CAC wouldn’t be the same!

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a solid week of teaching and learning.

Today we are posting Semester One Progress Report two. In this reporting period we are also posting a grade which is a combination of the past 12 weeks. Your child will receive a comment if they have “Rarely” on their ATLs. A reminder to have a conversation with your child about their approaches to learning because it sets them up for success not only during middle school but for their future.

In French class, students could use the Oculus virtual headset to go on a sightseeing tour of Paris. They took turns identifying the famous landmarks in France. This was a perfect opportunity for them to practice their French with one another on this virtual tour.

After last week’s Halloween celebration, we could all use a week without activities. However, I want to thank the Booster Club parents, Paige, Cindy, Delphine, Jacci, and Bryanne, for setting up the pumpkin patch on the lawn and organizing the Red Carpet walk for students and teachers to show off their costumes.

Congratulations to our STUCO leaders and the teacher facilitators, Ms. Torky, Ms. Fides, and Ms. Genidy, for helping to make the Halloween Social a fun evening for the students. The students had fun trick-or-treating and dancing off the sugar from all the candies they had throughout the night.

This is a reminder that we will have parent-teacher conferences on November 18th and 20th. The conference on November 18th will be from 3:15 to 5:30, and the November 20th will be from 7:45 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. You will receive an email inviting you to sign-up for the conferences. Please sign-up so that you can get a suitable one for you. A reminder that your child should be in attendance with you at the conference.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a week of recovery for trip leaders, teachers, and students.

The feedback from all the students is that it was the best trip ever. The trip leaders, Mr. Kasal, Mr. Vogel, Mr. Storey, and Mr. Bably, had nothing but wonderful things to say about the students’ behavior and the overall experience of the trips. The memories will last forever, and the friendships will last a lifetime. We want to thank the parents for supporting the trips. They are an integral part of the student’s middle school experience.

It was the week of Halloween, and students were busy preparing the doors of their advisory classrooms for the door competition. The Social tonight will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and we know students are planning what costume they will wear.

This is a reminder that we will have parent-teacher conferences on November 18th and 20th. The conference on November 18th will be from 3:15 to 5:30, and the conference on November 20th will be from 7:45 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. You will receive an email inviting you to sign-up for the conferences.

Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support and congratulations I’ve received since returning from Washington, DC. The award I received is a testament to the collective efforts of our entire CAC community. Your support and dedication have made this achievement possible. As I mentioned in my speech, there’s no other place I’d rather be than CAC—a community that is truly unique and special.

Next week, our students will embark on PRIME and Cairo-based trips, living out our school’s mission beyond the walls of our campus. These trips provide a valuable opportunity for students to bond with their peers and teachers, explore new environments, and learn in hands-on, enriching ways. We know this experience will help shape them physically and emotionally, fostering their independence and confidence. These moments in middle school have a lasting impact, and we are grateful to the parents for supporting these trips, allowing our students to explore the wonders of Cairo and Egypt.

While we understand that separation can be difficult for many parents, we encourage you to embrace this time, knowing that your child is having an incredible experience. Rest assured, when they return, they will have grown in many ways—coming back more independent, confident, and full of new stories and experiences.

I also want to acknowledge the hard work of our grade-six students. They’ve been making excellent progress with their transdisciplinary project, demonstrating great dedication to their research in preparation for the trip. Their efforts will undoubtedly enhance the meaningful connections they make with Luxor’s historical and cultural sights. We are proud of their commitment and look forward to the knowledge and insight they will gain from this amazing learning opportunity.

Thank you to the high school counseling team for organizing the University Fairs. It was a valuable experience for grade eighth students, who learned about different universities and the majors they offer. I know this will benefit the students in the long run.

Thank you all for your continued support and for making CAC an extraordinary place for our students to grow and thrive.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
