Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a busy week with the Ted Talks presentation in grade eight. I wish you all a restful holiday break. For those of you celebrating Eastern Easter, I wish you a Happy Easter. I encourage you to take advantage of the break to rest and recharge for the stretch run to Summer.

During the Cairo Round of the World Scholar’s Cup, CAC was represented by 45 dedicated scholars who spent several months preparing for the competition.  However, we had two students that we needed to celebrate, and they were Karim Attia, and Michael Roberts. The boys won the prestigious Jack Kor Award, which is given to the best scholars. Karim Attia won the junior division, and Michael Roberts won the senior division in the following categories: Science and Technology/Literature & Media/Art & Music/History/Social Studies and a Special Area customized each year. The World Scholars Cup is an event that gives students who excel academically and strive for excellence while maintaining a positive and inspiring work ethic an opportunity to shine and be celebrated. Michael is an eighth grader who participated in the senior division and won in all six categories.

On April 25th four performing groups from Middle and High school attended a music competition hosted by Bandmakers Cairo Music Academy. The HS Band achieved 1st place overall while the MS Concert band took 2nd place in the Big Band open competition. The MS choir also had a strong showing taking 3rd place in the Choir competition. The MS Beginning Band did very well and accomplished a 4th place finish. Although little emphasis was placed on either winning or losing the CAC groups came away feeling successful all around. Congratulations to all 70 participating musicians and a huge thank you goes to our supporting chaperones: Todd & Karishma Schumacher, John White, Alex Dzamashvili, Dolly Shalaby, and Margaret Wong.

Life Lesson# 5: Your mission never leaves you

When you’re not feeling aligned or unsure of your next steps, your job is to make time for yourself alone so that you can leave the noise of the world for a while and hear your soul speak to you.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

Announcements

Moving on from CAC at the end of the year?
To help us plan for next year, if you haven’t already done so, please use the link below to let us know if you are withdrawing from CAC at the end of this year.

https://cacegypt.org/index.php/withdrawal-request

A few days before your departure, a withdrawal form that includes several signatures must also be completed by middle and high school students in order to clear any outstanding obligations, and turned in to the Admission/Registrar‘s Office to release final records.

Final end of year Middle and High School records will not be ready until on or after June 23rd (following the Eid holiday).

Note From the Health Office
Dear Parents,
If your student is entering grade next school year, we ask that she/he is seen and examined by a doctor and that a physical form be completed and sent to the health office on or before the first day of school in August.
We are more than happy to accept early completed physicals.
Many thanks,
Nurse Claire.

The CAC Booster Club NEEDS YOU!!!
The Booster Club is a volunteer organization on campus that runs on parent power. We raise money through the Spirit Store and Spirit Cafe to support the sports and activities that happen at CAC at all age levels. If you would like to become more involved in fundraising and socializing on campus, then we have the perfect opportunities! We are in need of people to take some positions that will become vacant during the next school year. The positions that are available are:

President: organize meetings, recruit volunteers and help with events

Vice President: support the president and help with events

Store Rep: help manage the Spirit Store and its volunteers

Treasurer (in training): gradually take over managing the Booster Club’s finances

Please reach out to us at boosterclub@cac.org for any more information about these positions or to ask any questions that you might have.
Executive elections will take place at the final Booster Club meeting on May 20th in the Spirit Store at 10am.
The Booster Club and CAC will thank you for your volunteerism!

All Pro Dad – May Meeting
Hello everyone! The next CAC All Pro Dad meeting is scheduled for 16 May.

All Pro Dad is a monthly gathering where dads get to intentionally engage with their kids! This of course is not just limited to dads, but all children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be fun activities and a character-based curriculum that helps parents start meaningful conversations with their kids.

The next meeting is scheduled for 16 May at 7:00 am and it would be great to see you there.

May’s topic is Respect. To respect others is to believe they’re valuable and to treat them that way. When we believe people are valuable, we are considerate of them, and we honor their rights and their wishes.

If you would like to come, please RSVP here! https://allprodadchapters.com/chapters/13407

For more information or questions, contact our team captain, Craig Tippins, at this email: AllProDadCAC@gmail.com

Eco Fair Thrift Store
Part of the Eco Fair is the Thrift Store, where members of the community bring in clothing they no longer want, to be resold, hence the name. The goal of this is to encourage using sustainable shopping methods rather than fast fashion brands! So, from April 21st to May 6th, we will be collecting donations for the Thrift Store. All donations can be dropped off in the red bin with the recycling symbol at the front of the school.

Please see these posters for more information!

If you have any questions please email greenteam@cacegypt.org
