Highro Glyphics Newsletter Week of September 16, 2021

CAC High School Principal’s Notes

What a wonderful sight it was to see our middle school and high school faculty collaborating together around curriculum on Tuesday. After students were dismissed, the teams got together and reflected on what it means to collaborate meaningfully across the two divisions with a focus on student learning and progression of curriculum through the years. As this work continues through this school year, we will aim to bridge the transitions between middle school and high school more smoothly and ensure that our teachers have a shared vision of what an exceptional education looks like an international school such as CAC.

Spirit Week and StuCo Movie Night

For the students, it’s full steam ahead as we plough into next week looking forward to Spirit Week. Every day next week there will be activities during break times and lunchtimes as students engage in friendly competition between the grade levels through a variety of fun and challenging events. Kudos to our student council members who have spearheaded and led the organization of this week, assisted and supported by our student council sponsors: Dorothy Knox, Tony Knox, Ashley Gramolini, Erik Dunham, and Kasey Semler. Spirit Week is all about fun, good-hearted, friendly competition and teamwork, and fostering a sense of belonging.

StuCo includes a clothing drive as part of the week’s festivities. Parents are invited to send clothing donations to school with your child/ren any time next week.

Also, in case you might be worried about how your child may be dressing for school next week, here’s a heads up on the daily dress up themes for the week:

● Sunday: Pajama Day
● Monday: Attack of the Clones (like twin day but more!)
● Tuesday: Pop Culture Day
● Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday
● Thursday: Class Specific Theme

More immediately, the StuCo sponsored movie night is taking place here on campus tonight. It’s great to see our students organizing these fun social events for each other and long may this continue!

NESA Parents as Partners webinar series

A reminder of the opportunity to join with parents across the NESA region to hear from distinguished specialists and to explore and learn new strategies in support of your child as a learner. The second webinar in the series will take place on Tuesday 21 September and will focus on The Science of Attention. You can find more details on the NESA website here.

HS Building

The work on the HS Building continues apace. Over the last week the CAC technology team has installed SmartBoards in all classrooms and our custodial team has also moved in much of the basic classroom furniture. Hopefully it won’t be long now until we can also move the students in and start learning in this wonderful new space!
