Highro Glyphics Newsletter Week of February 1, 2024

CAC High School Principal’s Notes

Sophomores win the Grade Cup!

I’m preparing this week’s newsletter from the sidelines of the final match of this year’s Grade Cup tournament. The excitement in the air is palpable, with almost the entire high school community gathered around the field to watch the soccer and support the players. The Grade Cup has been a wonderful example of student-leadership and initiative, and our whole school community has come out in celebration of these types of events. Congratulations to the Sophomores who were victorious, at the end of the tournament.

As usual, there’s been plenty going on for our students to get involved in this week. We are proud to host the MESAC wrestling event, drawing in teams from international schools in the region to participate in the tournament here at CAC. If you have any time over the weekend and would like to pop in to watch some matches, you’re all very welcome.

Next weekend, we have a delegation of students representing CAC at the HIAMUN event, one of four opportunities in the school year for students to participate in Model United Nations events. Good luck to those delegates!

We are proud to welcome on campus next week a visiting professional artist. Ian Pike will be working with the Arts and English departments, as well as some Elementary and Middle School Arts classes. Mr Pike’s impressive experience as a student workshop leader around the world will be a huge benefit to our arts students as they continue on their artistic journeys.

A quick reminder to all our Grade 10 parents and students that you are invited to join us for the Subject Selection and IB Fair, taking place on Tuesday after school. Please check your emails for more details if you are a Grade 10 parent. We look forward to welcoming you at this new event to help students and parents understand all the different types of courses that are on offer during the grade 11 and 12 years.

Visit to AMC Snap Animal Shelter

In addition to all the above, we also had a group of students visit the AMC Snap animal shelter in Saqqara this week. You may read their brief report below:

“On Wednesday, January 31st 6 eager club members in Global Issues and Services Club (G.I.S.C) went on a service trip to the AMC SNAP center.

The AMC SNAP center is a clinic as well as a spay and neuter program that works to reduce the population of stray dogs and cats in Egypt.

The students were welcomed by “Prince” and were able to play with other dogs and give them the attention and love that they deserved!

They took a tour of the center and got to meet the CEO of AMC SNAP and hear more about what they do. The students engaged in an informative Q and A session with the CEO and had a great time!”
