CAC High School Principal’s Notes

Grade 10 Course Information Evening

We seem to have moved out of the wintry weather phase, and our students have been enjoying some warm sunshine and spring-like conditions over the last couple of days. It’s great to see them out and about during breaks and lunchtime, interacting with each other and socializing, and enjoying the fantastic facilities and open space we have at CAC.

This week, we were very excited to host Mr. Ian Pike, a visiting artist who has been working with students in the Arts and English departments in all three of the school’s divisions. Ian has been deeply impressed by the creative energy of our students and has made many comments about how polite and respectful they have been. Our arts teachers have been thrilled to learn from him and his expertise, and we know that the students have enjoyed their time with Ian and learning about skills in scriptwriting, character building, ensemble work, productions, and many other things. On behalf of the community, we thank Ian for visiting us, and we hope he will one day return to work with our students again.

We were also incredibly proud and humbled to host Joan Trumpauer-Mulholland at our school today. Ms Trumpauer-Mulholland, is one of the original “Freedom Riders” from the Civil Rights Movement in the United States in the 1960s. Joan’s incredible, personal testimonies were passionate and moving, and our students were deeply engaged in her presentation. We extend our thanks to the United States Embassy for facilitating this powerful experience for our students today. Understanding the ways in which young people can take steps towards making their world a better place is an integral part of the CAC educational experience and a responsibility that we believe all young people hold in today’s world.

This year’s high school theater production of “The Giver” will be coming soon to CAC. The student ensemble has been working hard to rehearse and prepare for the performance and we look forward to welcoming the community to the shows on February 28th, 29th, and March 1st. Please watch the announcements and newsletters for further details.

A wonderfully exciting weekend of wrestling is now behind us. The MESAC Wrestling Invitational Tournament last weekend was a huge success for CAC. Not only did our athletes perform admirably, but the whole community came out in support, and the atmosphere in our gym during the final bouts was truly electric. It’s wonderful to see these international tournaments returning to CAC once again.

Good luck to our delegates who are currently representing CAC at the HIAMUN event here in Cairo this weekend. Students are honing their diplomacy, discussion, and debating skills as they work towards proposing resolutions to current global challenges from various perspectives.
