Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a four-day week, and we are looking forward to the break. This is a good time of the year to recharge our mind and body for the final six weeks of school.

We shouldn’t lose sight of the mitigation protocol during the long weekend. Please continue to wear your mask, wash your hands often and continue to practice social distancing. If a family member comes down with COVID please notify an administrator or the health office at CAC.

The Art festival opened this week on campus. All around the middle school building, the artwork of Middle and High school students is on display. There is a musical concert with the High School Strings and concert band playing on the lawn during lunchtime. We wish parents could be here to enjoy the festivities. After the break the middle school students in Strings and Band will be performing at lunchtime. In celebration of our students’ work, here are some photos.

In keeping with the spirit of Earth Day, we held a 30-minute version of the Race to Clean the Air because it is an integral part of our environmental unit in grade seven Social Studies. Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd every year. The goal to raise awareness within our community about climate change and global warming. The day inspired us to act towards protecting the environment and focusing on the need for conservation. Our students managed to raise 19,000 LE to contribute towards the restoration of the Midans around Maadi.

Thanks for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,

Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal

Announcements

Student physical requests for 2021/22
If your student will be entering grades 3,6 or 9 next school year, we ask that he/she is seen and examined by a doctor, and a physical form completed and sent to the health office on or before the first day of school in August.
We are more than happy to accept early completed physicals as of now, either by email or hand-delivered to security at the front gate.

From the MS/HS Library

CAC Libraries Open Saturdays in May
The libraries will be open on May 8, 22, and 29. Here is a document with all the open Saturdays for the year. These dates will apply even if the government changes the dates of the national holidays.

Summer checkouts
All library materials are due back on May 26. Students will start summer checkout on June 1, provided they are returning in August and have cleared their library accounts.

Parents can check out for the summer on May 29 and June 5. The library hours on those two Saturdays will be from 10 to 4 pm, by appointment as has been the case all year. Same conditions apply to parents: must be returning in August and must have a cleared library account. No Saturday check out will be allowed for students with outstanding materials, and the person checking out must be physically present to do so.

Sora is open 24/7
Our ebook and digital audiobook library is open 24/7 to our CAC parents, students, faculty and staff. Download the Sora app, find our school by typing “Cairo American College” and use your CAC single sign on to log in.
