Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading this week’s News and Views. It was another terrific week of teaching, learning, and having fun.

We ended last Thursday with the Valentine’s Day Social. It was well attended, and the students enjoyed themselves in a safe environment.

As an essential part of this week’s teaching and learning process, we did an activity called “Wall of Intolerance that spirals into the Wall of Tolerance.” It was a teachable moment for students and faculty to share an experience when words were not used impeccably. The following day, we spent time learning about words that were impactful and uplifting. The words were then written on bricks and placed on the wall in the common area on each floor.

I want to thank the parents who attended the Principal’s Coffee Morning. The topic was “How to Be Okay When Things Are Not Okay.” It was an opportunity to share some ideas and books with parents who would like to share them with their children. The session also focuses on how to practice self-care. If you missed the session, here is the Principal Coffee Morning

We want to thank the grade-eighth parents who attended the grades 8 – 9 transition meeting. I know the High School is looking forward to answering all your questions. As the year progresses, they will have more information sessions to educate you on how high school differs from middle school.

A reminder that we will be having Spirit Week March 3 – 7th. The students are looking forward to a week of good, clean fun.

The students have been creative in their art classes by creating these beautiful pieces of art.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

The Giver
This year’s HS production

February 28th and 29th @ 6.00
March 1st at 2pm.

Sometime in the future, an 11-year-old boy named Jonas lives in a seemingly perfect community in which there is little pain and little crime. People are polite. Everyone belongs to a supportive family. But this harmony comes at a price. There is also no choice, and real emotions are nonexistent. Life is dictated by strict rules and being different is shameful.

At the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas is given the highly honored Assignment of Receiver of Memory. The Receiver is the sole keeper of the community’s collective memory. Through his new role Jonas comes to learn pain, love, sacrifice, and choice. The story is one of courage and discovery.

The talented HS Theatre ensemble have taken on this challenging and imaginative story for you to enjoy. Join us to witness the stage version of this well-known work of YA fiction.

****Running time 90 minutes with a 15-minute interval****

****Please note- strobe lights, loud noises and references to violence and war are used during the show****

****Suitable for older MS and up****
