Highro Glyphics Newsletter Week of April 18, 2024

CAC High School Principal’s Notes

It was a big day for our IB seniors today…their last day of school classes! Beginning next week, seniors will be taking their final IB examinations, beginning on April 24 and continuing through to May 17. IB exams are taken by the majority of our graduating class each year. Students who have enrolled in the full IB Diploma program will sit exams in six different subjects. Those not enrolled in the full DP will still take somewhere between 1-5 IB exams, depending on the individualized program of study each student has created on their pathway to graduation. Whether a student is taking one or six exams, the pressure and hard work is not to be underestimated as each IB exam represents the culmination of two full years of studying material that is in many cases equivalent in rigor to university courses. We wish all our seniors taking IB exams this year the very best of luck!

In other news, the Maadi Community Theater production got off to a resounding success last night and there are two more shows to look forward to tonight and tomorrow. It’s great to see our community members coming together around this special event.

Speaking of theater, congratulations to our Grade 12 IB Theater students who performed their Solo Theater assessment pieces earlier this week. Audiences were transfixed by the very powerful and affecting performances. Well done indeed to these young artists.

Next week, a group of CAC artists will travel to Geneva to participate in the International Schools Theater Association High School Inter-Arts Festival. This festival is unique in that it is designed so that students can explore the creative process through the lens of a range of art forms. This festival celebrates the integration of all Arts (film, theater, music, dance, poetry, visual arts etc.)

Good luck to our Eagles Track Team who have a Twilight Relay Meet this evening. Our runners are looking forward to this first competition of the season.

CAC Varsity Baseball, Game 4 Victory Summary

This past Saturday afternoon, the CAC Boys clinched a solid 9-3 win against the Scrubs (our community team opponent) in a three-inning game. The CAC Boys’ record is 4 wins and 0 losses. Key performances included:

• Max, Kaden, Wyatt, and Gian each getting two hits.
• Nick hitting a memorable three-run homer.
• Shivam driving in two runs with a single.

On defense, Wyatt made a standout bare-handed throw for an out, and Max picked off a runner at first. Kaden led from the mound as the winning pitcher, anchoring the team’s victory.
