Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. We have completed week six, and I want to thank you for your support during these challenging times.
Our teachers and students benefit immensely when there is a home-school partnership.

Thank you to the parents who attended our virtual tea on Monday afternoon. Here is a link to the presentation; it provides information, strategies, resources, and tools to support our student’s academic success and wellbeing of our students in partnership with parents. There is a link to the recording of the Google Meet on the second and third pages for parents that were absent.

A reminder that October 6th will be a school day (E1) and October 8th will be the holiday with no classes. In conjunction with the home school partnership, please note the critical importance for all of our school community to carefully adhere to coronavirus mitigation. Our focus on health and safety must continue to guide all that we do during the pandemic.

On Sunday, October 11th, we will be issuing our first Progress Report Cards. We will be reporting out on the student’s commitment to online learning and their Approaches to Learning (ATLs). Considering that students are doing online learning from home three times per week, we need to give them feedback and hold them accountable for their learning.

  • Their report cards will include a new ATL labeled “Commitment to Online Learning.”
  • Standard ATL feedback (Consistently, Usually, Sometimes, and Rarely) will be used to assess the students’ commitment to online learning.
  • Only students receiving Rarely in the ATLs at school, or online, will receive a comment.
  • New students will receive a comment welcoming them to CAC.

We received the results from the students on the Blended Learning Program survey. The feedback from the students is that they are enjoying the academics and how it is presented to them in school and online. However what we found alarming is that many of our students are anxious, afraid, and don’t know how to self-manage. This is something we take seriously and will be providing time in the advisory to address these concerns.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,

Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal

Let’s put our ideas together
“THE IDEAS TANK”

Get Inspired by others! The below are some amazing ideas that were submitted earlier in response to the question; “How can we contribute to the community while maintaining physical distance & managing our own safety? explain by giving examples.”

  • Stay healthy and improve your immune system during covid-19 cooking class. Also learning quick, easy healthy meals for University. (done on zoom). – HS Student
  • Organize useful zoom talks, provide value through meaningful, yet safe involvement in community service, promote togetherness through projects that can be taken online, meet in small groups outside. – Parent
  • We can plan online and act in a small group that can go to different organizations. – Staff
  • Making a list of the best quality arts and crafts shops in and around Maadi made by disadvantaged people in our community. – Faculty.
  • Maybe we can make a “love of wings”, a cloth that has two wings, each wing is one meter long, so it can keep the social distance. – MS Student
    A NEW Question!
    Proposed by a HS student
What is your experience with initiating or participating in service projects in the Maadi/Cairo community?”. Click here to send your ideas: THE IDEAS TANK.
