Middle School Principal’s Letter

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of News and Views. It was another short week of teaching and learning in Middle School.

We want to wish you and your family a safe Eid El Fitr. Please have a relaxing and safe long weekend. Please be reminded to stay away from large gatherings as much as possible. In addition, don’t forget to follow the mitigations protocol that we have at school; wear your masks, wash your hands and practice social distancing.

Kudos! To Mr. McCuaig and Mr. Johnson for the Arts Festival performance in Middle School this week. The students demonstrated the Core Values of creativity and courage during their performances. It was a perfect way to head off into the long weekend.

On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st May, 30 MS students will be participating in the World Scholar’s Cup Cairona Round, competing against each other and virtually against teams from other Schools in Cairo.

We’ll be running the debates in the afternoon on Thursday 20th May, between 3:45pm and 7:00pm. CAC teams will be debating virtually against teams from other schools. On Friday we’ll be in the MS Hall and the Eagle Cafe from 11:45am for the Collaborative Writing and the Scholar’s Challenge. This is a great opportunity for our students to compete in academic games competitions.

We are about to send our Yearbook to the print shop to get it published. However, we would like to know how many of you would like to purchase a copy in advance. This time around, the yearbook will be memorable, as it will serve as a historical piece of evidence for all our students. There will be so much to remember about the 2020/21 school year. Be sure to purchase a copy of the yearbook that gave us a new normal. More information about how to request a book will be provided in the morning announcements.

Kudos To the teachers involved with the Math and Language Arts intervention program during SSR time! Mr. Ossman, Ms. Parnell, Ms. Harouny, Ms. Spencer and Ms. St-Amand have all worked endlessly with our students to strengthen their skills.

Following the break we will be having the Student-led Conferences. We will be using the same format we did last year. The date is Tuesday May 25th, therefore we are asking that you put the time aside to learn from your child how they have progressed as a learner this year.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,

Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal

We are more than happy to accept early completed physicals as of now, either by email or hand-delivered to security at the front gate.
